Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanee Les Beaux Monts
| Wine Advocate 94 points (Dec 2013)
The 2012 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts has a pure dark cherry, black plum scented bouquet with hints of blood orange and plenty of mineralite. The oak is beautifully folded in to the fruit profile. The palate is very harmonious with great tension, a symmetrical focus with plenty of energy and frisson on the finish that electrifies the senses. This may be the best Les Beaux Monts in 2012.
Wine Spectator 91 points (Jun 15 2015)
Spiced cherry, boysenberry and currant aromas and flavors mark this firm red, laced with dusty tannins that leave a chalky feel on the finish. Offers fine length, with a lingering sweet fruit aftertaste. Best from 2018 through 2029. 30 cases imported.-BS
Vinous 94 points (Mar 2015)
Healthy full red. Knockout nose combines raspberry, underbrush, smoke and truffle, lifted by vibrant white pepper and floral nuances. Then wonderfully vinous and taut, displaying a bulletproof solidity to its intense flavors of raspberry, flowers, pepper and earth. Finishes sappy, saline and long, with serious but noble, fine-grained tannins. This wine was a knockout from barrel a year ago and is every bit as promising today.
|Wine maker notes
|A rich, full wine with exquisite scents of red fruits and exotic spices. No wonder it is one of the most famous Vosne premier crus. Its velvety roundness makes it charming early on but its natural balance will also ensure good cellaring potential.
