Just in time for the holidays, JBSB2, the second in a series of private releases from Barrel Bourbon, has arrived at Harry’s!

For those who are unfamiliar with the story, earlier this year we asked Joe Beatrice from Barrell Bourbon (one of our favorite producers) to provide us with something really special for Harry’s 80th anniversary.  His response…”I’ve got you covered”.  And did he ever.

This summer, Joe sent us two samples of his first ever JBSB (Joe Beatrice Single Barrel) private release…JBSB1 and JBSB2.  When Renzo and I tasted them side by side, we knew almost immediately that picking between them would be a very difficult undertaking. While they were very different in style (JBSB2 being more feminine and graceful), they were both exceptional whiskies. We went back and forth with which one to select. We invited friends and collectors whose opinions we valued to stop by and taste with us. The result? About as down the middle as you could get with half the people liking the more masculine style of JBSB1, while the other half liked the softer, prettier style of the JBSB2.

In the end, we felt that the two barrels made the perfect pairing and it was impossible to choose one over the other.  So, we made the only decision that seemed fair…we bought both barrels!

We released JBSB1 in October in commemoration of our 80th anniversary.  It sold out quickly, but if you were lucky enough to get your hands on one, we think you will agree that it was an absolute homerun! Wonderfully masculine, with a beautifully powerful nose and attack that gives way to layers and layers or richness and a forever long finish that is wonderfully balanced. The reviews on this special bottle have been stellar across the board and a lot of people wished they had gotten more than one.

JBSB2 is our holiday barrel and you can see our tasting notes below.  This whiskey will be made available starting tomorrow night.  We will offer 90 bottles online beginning at 9:30 pm on a first come first serve basis. (Please use the link below which will go live at 9:30 pm).  We will then offer an additional 90 bottles in-store on Saturday morning on a first come first serve basis beginning at 8:00am. There will be a 1 bottle limit per person.

Enjoy!
