Please help us welcome Stellum Bourbon to Connecticut!

This brand new label is the brainchild of Barrell Bourbon's owner Joe Beatrice who saw the need for a mid-priced barrel proof whiskey. This new label will feature a bourbon and a rye that will blend three different mashbills of 4-6 year old whiskies for their base bourbon and rye. The single barrel program offers buyers their choice of any one of these mashbills, in this case we chose the "Lyra" to kick things off (see tasting notes below). We have known Joe and Tripp since the beginning of Barrell craft spirits and knew immediately that we wanted to be involved with the kickoff of their new label! Presented with the first samples, it was very hard to choose from barrels offered, so we decided that we should take two! Each is a different mashbill and we are excited to introduce each of them. (More on the second barrel when it arrives.)

In the meantime, please read below for a story that has tapped into the conscience of bourbon drinkers across the country as we dedicate this barrel to one of our own in the bourbon community.

This past January fellow bourbon enthusiast John Turoldo was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and had to have his leg amputated below the knee. The word soon got out to the bourbon community and the response was amazing. With the help of people on social media and in the beverage industry his story was told to the whiskey community all around the country and a great many stepped up to help. There were raffles, donations, and auctions that raised more than $60k to help him get back on his feet.

Connecticut, in particular, showed up very big and was generous beyond John’s wildest hopes. When he saw the response from our state he promised many of us that he was going to come to Connecticut personally to say thank you to all of the people that helped him out. This Saturday he makes good on that promise! He is flying in for a special event that will be hosted at our store along with many of the people so integral in helping his cause.  Please join us Saturday morning between 10:00am-12:00pm for a special meet and greet with John.  Harry's will be donanting 100% of the profits from this Stellum single barrel to John's Gofundme page to help with future medical bills. 

This Stellum pick will be made available online tomorrow, Friday 7/9.  The links below will go live at 9:30 pm at which time you will be able to buy your bottle. There is a one bottle maximum for this barrel and it will be first come first serve.
