Faîte De Mer Farm is located on the far western edge of the Mendocino Ridge appellation. At three miles from the pacific ocean, this site is the most westward vineyard in Mendocino County and the coolest in our portfolio. At 1250 ft elevation we are often just above the fog line or often times engulfed in it. Our soils are ancient uplifted ocean floor, made up of decomposed sandstone mixed with gravelly materials that include shale and quartz and rounded river rocks from uplifted creek beds along with a small percentage of clay. These soils, the maritime climate coupled with our coastal forest surrounds are what defines this terrior. We are quite smitten with this 2019 vintage. Lighter in weight and incredibly layered with savory wild raspberries, black truffles and coastal forest after a rain. After a bit of air in the glass the floral character starts to unfold. Proper acidity keeps your palate cleansed and wanting more. A very charismatic coastal Pinot Noir in a very ethereal package. Pair with roasted cauliflower soup or a simple roast chicken.
