The 2023 rosès are here!
We love rosès here at Harry’s and each spring we pride ourselves in assembling a highly curated selection of wines that has broad appeal to our customers, no matter their taste preference or price range.
Most people are familiar with the crisp and light pink rosès of Provence, but you may ask yourself, ‘what actually makes a wine a rosè?’ A rosè is produced by only allowing the skin of red grapes to be in contact with the wine for a short amount of time, typically a few hours. The wine maker has full control over how dark or light the final product will be. The longer the skins and the juice are together the darker the wine. Rosè can be made of any dozens of combinations of grape blending (Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Vermentino, etc). It’s all about finding that balance of juiciness and mouthwatering acidity. In different areas of the world certain grapes are more common like Grenache in France or Zweigelt in Austria. With a vast variety of grapes in play, the flavors imparted can range from soft strawberry to honeydew melon to zesty citrus, with many nuances in between.
Rosès are typically created with the intention to be enjoyed young, fresh & chilled for optimal drinkability. We believe there are rosès out there for every wine drinker and that there is nothing better than enjoying a delicious rosè on a patio in the sunshine!
